Recipe: Air Fryer Green Beans Recipe — Garlicky & Crisp
Ingredients
- 500g green beans (ends trimmed, washed and dried)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ tsp salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds (optional, toasted)
Instructions
- Dry the beans. Trim ends and pat thoroughly dry (surface water steams instead of roasts).
- Toss. Mix with olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes.
- Roast. Air fryer at 190°C / 375°F, single layer, 10–12 min, shaking once.
- Almonds. In the last minute add almonds and roast until lightly golden.

Green beans are the vegetable that is “fine however you cook them,” but the air fryer version is the standout at our house. Boiled ones go limp and sad; air-fried, the pods wrinkle at the edges, catch a little char, and stay snappy with garlic and olive oil. A handful of toasted almonds takes the texture and flavor up a notch.
It is the green side most requested on a weeknight — the one that actually gets finished instead of pushed to the side of the plate.
In this recipe: a garlicky almond-topped side, about 20 minutes, serves 4.

Recipe Tips
- Dry beans are key — wet ones boil soft, no crisp.
- Roast them through. Green beans should be fully cooked; undercooked they have a grassy bite and are harder to digest. Big beans get +2 min.
- Toast almonds separately first for more aroma.
